SD-WAN market will reach 8 billion US dollars
The Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solution has been commercialized in just a few short years since its inception, and the ability of this technology to address enterprise network needs has improved significantly. IDC’s latest forecast shows that global SD-WAN infrastructure and service revenue will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 69.6% by 2021, and will eventually reach $8.05 billion by 2021.
The most important driver for SD-WAN growth in the next five years will be Digital Transformation (DX), in which enterprises deploy technologies from third-party platforms, including cloud computing, big data and analytics, mobility and social services, to open up new Source of income, improved innovation, and enhanced user experience. Digital transformation often increases network workloads and raises the importance of network downs to the operational level.
Another factor driving the development of SD-WAN is the continued increase in software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications based on public clouds, and the growth in SaaS adoption of business applications across the enterprise has broken the important position of MPLS-based WAN-to-branch connectivity. SD-WAN is increasingly used to provide dynamic connectivity optimization and path selection in a policy-driven, centralized management distributed network architecture.
